Ms. Sharmaine Way delivered an online lecture on "Equity Ownership Structure for Start-ups"

Ms. Way was invited by HKUST Fok Ying Tung Research Institute to give an online lecture on "Equity Ownership Structure for Start-ups" to participants of the 2022 Hong Kong University of Science and Technology One Million Prize International Entrepreneurship Competition Guangzhou Division on July 19, 2022. Ms. Way introduced the basic knowledge and the designing skills of equity ownership structure to the entrepreneurship competition contestants.

Starting from the successful and failed cases of corporate equity ownership structure in the business community in recent years, Ms. way presented the importance of equity ownership structure for start-ups, the rules of arrangement, the method to control, and the mechanism of exit in this lecture.

This lecture is part of the activities for the participants in the Guangzhou Division of the 2022 Hong Kong University of Science and Technology One Million Prize International Entrepreneurship Competition.

The HKUST One Million Prize International Entrepreneurship Competition has been organized and undertaken by the Fok Ying Tung Research Institute since it settled in Nansha in 2016. In the past seven years, the start-up projects that stood out from the competition cover the fields of artificial intelligence, biomedicine, new-generation information technology, etc., and are also well-known in the fields of scientific research and venture capital.

Many teams from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and abroad, through the competition, have even settled in the Innovation Workshop, an innovation and entrepreneurship platform operated by the Institute. The event promotes the exchange and integration of youth innovation and entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area.
